Channa Masala: Healthy Indian Food Recipes

One of the most popular Indian foods is Channa Masala.  It’s been a staple as it’s known for its spiciness and health benefits. Let’s talk more about how this dish has become so beloved!

What is Channa Masala?

India is sometimes referred to as The Land of Spices, so it’s no secret that this healthy Indian food is packed with flavor.  Masala is a mix of spices that is ground up, usually into a powder or paste.  That spice mix is then added to a tomato sauce base, along with other seasonings that really give it a kick. 

In 2020, The Good Food Foundation listed Sambar Kitchen’s Channa Masala cooking sauce as a “Pantry Winner” among 2,000 other pantry items like mustards, jellies, and other sauces.

Your Shopping List

2 T Olive Oil

2 Bell Peppers of any color, julienned 

1 Large Yellow Squash, into quarter pieces

1 jar (16 oz.) of Sambar Kitchen Channa Masala Cooking Sauce

Fresh cilantro (optional)

1. First, heat your oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add peppers and yellow squash, and saute for 2-3 minutes, or until tender.

4. Stir in Sambar Kitchen Channa Masala sauce and heat to a simmer.

We recommend serving this over cooked rice for an authentic taste! For added flavor, sprinkle some fresh cilantro on top!
